Planetary Healing: GMOs – What’s the Big Deal? – Part 1

GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms” are discussed constantly on the internet.
Every day we hear of the ongoing struggle between health activists and big biotech concerning GMO production and contamination of our food supply, and depending on which source you listen to, GMOs are either touted as a boogeyman or a life saver that can heal the planet.
Personally, I’ve only begun to learn about them in the last few years and I’ve kept up to date with news concerning them as much as anyone else, but I’ve never quite known about them or why they’re discussed in such an unfavorable light on most alternative news or health-related blog sites.
It’s easy to jump on the anti-GMO bandwagon and protest Monsanto and the spread of big biotech’s products, but if we don’t know much of anything about them then we can’t actually understand their malevolence or why, in my opinion, our society needs to purge them completely from our food supply.
Amidst researching this subject, I learned that even if we were to purge every last GMO from our food supply tomorrow, the genes inserted into the DNA of otherwise natural crops could live on in our bodies for decades.
Beyond any desire to be an activist in the face of another big corporation forcing their genetic experiments onto the public, I can say from researching the subject I’m about to present that GMOs are a huge threat to our survival and sustainability as a species.
In my honest opinion, they seem designed to severely weaken the public with genetic experimentation and gene splicing. The good news is that if you’re reading this from almost any country other than the United States, chances are you don’t have to worry about your food being contaminated with GMOs.
This is because myriad countries around the world have outright banned use of GMOs in their food supply, but the United States government remains in bed with corporate interests who are responsible for the massive amount of it in ours.
We’ll get into all of this and more a bit later on, but for now I’ll formally “introduce” GMOs to those of you who are in the dark about just what they are.
As I mentioned above, GMO stands for “genetically modified organism”. Summarizing from what I’ve read on the subject, the DNA of an otherwise natural crop, such as corn, can be altered to include the addition of a foreign gene, which is a process that can’t be duplicated through the natural crossbreeding techniques used for so long.
One of the main aims in producing a genetically modified crop seems to be to make it resistant to herbicide, and the DNA of some crops have been manipulated with a certain gene that acts as a pesticide.
Because of this, pesticide use on GMO crops has significantly grown since their widespread introduction.
I’ll leave the Non-GMO Project to explain genetically modified organisms and their detrimental effect on our society a bit more.
“GMOs, or ‘genetically modified organisms,’ are plants or animals that have beengenetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. These experimental combinations of genes from different species cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding.
Virtually all commercial GMOs are engineered to withstand direct application of herbicide and/or to produce an insecticide. Despite biotech industry promises, none of the GMO traits currently on the market offer increased yield, drought tolerance, enhanced nutrition, or any other consumer benefit.
Meanwhile, a growing body of evidence connects GMOs with health problems, environmental damage and violation of farmers’ and consumers’ rights.” (1)
According to the Non-GMO Project, multiple countries have already banned GMO contamination in their food supply while the United States continues to serve their corporate masters.
Most developed nations do not consider GMOs to be safe. In more than 60 countries around the world, including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, there are significant restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs.
In the U.S., the government has approved GMOs based on studies conducted by the same corporations that created them and profit from their sale. Increasingly, Americans are taking matters into their own hands and choosing to opt out of the GMO experiment.” (1)
When I first heard about GMOs, I’ll admit to naively assuming the products that contain them were already labeled. With such a big change to the very structure of the food I’m eating, it only made sense to me that the products that were manipulated so would have a label or even a mention on them.
Imagine my surprise when I found out that not only are products containing GMOs not labeled, but that corporations advocating them actually fight rigorously to stop such labeling. If the bioengineered product is supposedly so safe, why aren’t they comfortable with having products containing it labeled?
I notice that safe organic products are always labeled, because it’s good PR.
A safe product containing safe genetically modified ingredients that could actually help the planet would be labeled rigorously, I’d imagine, because to speak from a “business” point of view, it could drive up sales. The only conclusion I can reach is that Monsanto and the big food companies using GMOs know the product is unsafe and see labeling as negative PR.
It wouldn’t be negative if the product was safe!
So if GMOs are as bad as everyone says, why aren’t people in the United States who are being fed them the most (it’s in about 80% of all processed foods here) aware? According to the Non-GMO Project, a large percentage of us are aware and reject this unnatural addition to our food.
“Polls consistently show that a significant majority of North Americans would like to be able to tell if the food they’re purchasing contains GMOs (a 2012 Mellman Group poll found that 91% of American consumers wanted GMOs labeled). And, according to a recent CBS/New York Times poll, 53% of consumers said they would not buy food that has been genetically modified.” (1)
The referenced Non-GMO Project FAQ also outlines some of the environmental damage caused by this genetic modification and mass production of crops.
Over 80% of all GMOs grown worldwide are engineered for herbicidetolerance. As a result, use of toxic herbicides like Roundup has increased 15 times since GMOs were introduced. GMO crops are also responsible for the emergence of “super weeds” and “super bugs:’ which can only be killed with ever more toxic poisons like 2,4-D (a major ingredient in Agent Orange). GMOs are a direct extension of chemical agriculture, and are developed and sold by the world’s biggest chemical companies. The long-term impacts of GMOs are unknown, and once released into the environment these novel organisms cannot be recalled.” (1)
What about the farmers whose crops could potentially be contaminated with GMOs from other fields because of cross-pollination, or who could be unable to make money because of the patent and sale of GMO crops by big biotech? The Non-GMO Project explains.
Because GMOs are novel life forms, biotechnology companies have been able to obtainpatents with which to restrict their use. As a result, the companies that make GMOsnow have the power to sue farmers whose fields are contaminated with GMOs, even when it is the result of inevitable drift from neighboring fields. GMOs therefore pose a serious threat to farmer sovereignty and to the national food security of any country where they are grown, including the United States.” (1)
In my opinion, this is about the lowest big biotech can go in ousting competition in the form of farmers growing natural, healthy crops. To contaminate a farmer’s field with unnatural, genetically modified crops and subsequently sue and bankrupt them to get rid of competition is a despicable thing to do to a fellow human being and to the planet.

Monsanto and similar big biotech companies aren’t farmers themselves; they’re comprised of scientists who’ve used gene splicing and genetic manipulation to produce unnatural crops that pose myriad health risks to humans.
While only one human study of GMOs has been performed, because of admittedly unfortunate studies on animals we have an idea of how bad they are.
In this section, we’re going to get into their negative effects on our health and I’m going to post as many snippets from our next reference as possible to give you all the clearest glimpse of just how detrimental GMO products are. 
Jeffrey Smith wrote a detailed article in 2008 about the numerous negative health effects of GMOs and GMO products, and it’s from that article we’re going to discuss this subject. I’ve taken snippets from the repost of this article on The Organic Consumers Association’s website.
“GM plants, such as soybean, corn, cottonseed, and canola have had foreign genes forced into their DNA. And the inserted genes come from species, such as bacteria and viruses, that have never been in the human food supply.
(…) Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are not safe. They have been linked tothousands of toxic and allergenic reactions, thousands of sick, sterile, and dead livestock, and damage to virtually every organ and system studied in lab animals.” (2)
In the face of all of this, perhaps we here in the U.S. should ask why the FDA hasn’t “had our backs” in relation to GMOs. Why haven’t they banned these unnatural products like so many other countries have?
Jeffrey Smith explains.
“In 1992, the Food and Drug Administration claimed that they had no information showing that GM foods were substantially different from conventionally grown foods and therefore were safe to eat. But internal memosmade public by a lawsuit reveal that their position was staged by political appointees under orders from the White House to promote GMOsFDA scientists, on the other hand, warned that GMOs can create unpredictable, hard-to-detect side effects, including allergies, toxins, new diseases, and nutritional problems.” (2)
Does it surprise any of you reading this that the FDA ignored their own scientists and allowed GMOs to be put on the market basically untested? You may find your opinion of that organization harden a bit as we continue to explore their health hazards.
In doing so, perhaps we should understand the process of shooting foreign genes into the DNA of crops.
“Gene insertion is done either by shooting genes from a “gene gun” into a plate of cells or by using bacteria to invade the cell with foreign DNA. The altered cell is then cloned into a plant. These processes create massive collateral damage, causing mutations in hundreds or thousands of locations throughout the plant’s DNA. Natural genes can be deleted or permanently turned on or off, and hundreds may change their levels of expression.
In addition:
*The inserted gene is often rearranged;
*It may transfer from the food into our body’s cells or into the DNA of bacteria inside us; and
*The GM protein produced by the gene may have unintended properties or effects.” (2)
I should note that Jeffrey Smith backs up these claims with references. (2)
We’re then told about the allergic reactions we can have to consuming GMO products, and about the herbicide-resistant crops that have been engineered.
Soy allergies skyrocketed by 50% in the UK, soon after GM soy was introduced. A human subject showed a skin prick allergic-type reaction to GM soy, but not to natural soy.
The level of one known soy allergen is as much as 7-times higher in cooked GM soy compared to non-GM soy.
GM soy also contains an unexpected allergen-type protein not found in natural soy.
The biotech industry claims that Bt-toxin [Bacillus thuringiensis – a soil bacterium that’s genes are spliced into GMO crops] is harmless to humans and mammals because the natural bacteria version has been used as a spray by farmers for years. In reality,hundreds of people exposed to Bt spray had allergic-type symptoms, and mice fed Bt had powerful immune responses and damaged intestines. Moreover, Bt in GM crops is designed to be more toxic than the natural spray and is thousands of times more concentrated.
Hundreds of laborers in India report allergic reactions from handling Bt cotton. Their symptoms are identical to those exposed to Bt spray.” (2)
When we consume GMO-ridden products, the genetic material inserted into them can actually go on to live and grow in us, potentially causing “super diseases” in the future. Jeffrey Smith explains.
“Unlike safety evaluations for drugs, there are no human clinical trials of GM foods. The only published human feeding experiment verified that genetic material inserted into GM soy transfers into the DNA of intestinal bacteria and continues to function. This means that long after we stop eating GM foods, we may still have their GM proteins produced continuously inside us.
If the antibiotic gene inserted into most GM crops were to transfer, it could create super diseases, resistant to antibiotics.
If the gene that creates Bt -toxin in GM corn were to transfer, it might turn our intestinal flora into living pesticide factories.
Animal studies show that DNA in food can travel into organs throughout the body, even into the fetus.” (2)
Finally, we’re told about the resistance to the natural counterparts of GMO food that can be built up in our immune system when we consume the unnatural products.
“If proteins ‘digest’ slowly, there is more time for allergic reactions. Because GM soy reduces digestive enzymes in mice, it may slow protein digestion and promote allergies to many foods.
Mice not only reacted to Bt-toxin, they had immune responses to formerly harmless compounds.
Similarly, a mouse test indicated that people eating GM peas could develop allergies both to the peas and to a range of other foods. The peas had already passed all the allergy tests normally used to get GMOs on the market. It took this advanced mouse test, which was never used on the GMOs we eat, to discover that the peas could be deadly.” (2)
Though I won’t post the snippets from it here, the referenced article also discusses the numerous detrimental effects on the livers of mice who were given GMO food, indicating that GMOs are likely very bad for our livers (and, I can imagine, all of our organs). (2)

o now we know a little bit about the hazardous health effects of GMOs and why they’re still allowed to be used in the United States. Armed with this knowledge, we should perhaps ask ourselves just which crops are the highest risk of being genetically modified.
Again – if you’re in one of the many countries that have outright banned GMOs, you likely don’t have to worry about your food being contaminated with what seems like a gross cabal experiment on the populace.
For those of us in the United States and the few other countries who allow GMO products, the Non-GMO Project gives us a list of “at-risk” crops and crops that are less at risk of being contaminated. I’ll quote that list here, and when reading it, keep in mind what I said before about 80% of processed foods here in the US containing GMO.
The most at-risk crops that are most likely genetically modified in the US are:
“•Alfalfa (first planting 2011)
•Canola (approx. 90% of U.S. crop)
•Corn (approx. 88% of U.S. crop in 2011)
•Cotton (approx. 90% of U.S. crop in 2011)
•Papaya (most of Hawaiian crop; approximately 988 acres)
•Soy (approx. 94% of U.S. crop in 2011)
•Sugar Beets (approx. 95% of U.S. crop in 2010)
•Zucchini and Yellow Summer Squash (approx. 25,000 acres)” (3)
Some of the less risky crops are:
“•Beta vulgaris (e.g., chard, table beets)
•Brassica napa (e.g., rutabaga, Siberian kale)
•Brassica rapa (e.g., bok choy, mizuna, Chinese cabbage, turnip, rapini, tatsoi)
•Curcubita (acorn squash, delicata squash, patty pan)
•Flax
•Rice
•Wheat” (3)
The Non-GMO project monitors crops in both categories, but for various reasons they consider the latter list as posing less of a chance of being contaminated.
I was particularly surprised to learn that tomatoes and potatoes, among few others, pose almost no chance of being genetically modified because GMO tomatoes and potatoes were already introduced by Monsanto and rejected by the public in the 90s. (4)
Beyond my surprise over tomatoes and potatoes, some of the crops that matter the most seem contaminated beyond repair in the United States.
80% of the food in my country is allowed to contain genetically modified ingredients, and I have practically no say in the matter because I don’t have the money or PR ability Monsanto does.
Clearly, GMOs are a huge threat to our society and in my opinion, they must be successfully, 100% purged from our planet if we’re to move forward healthily.
Keeping any knowledge or opinion some may label “conspiracy theory” to myself, I’ll say that the people of the US and a few other countries are being weakened significantly by these genetically modified organisms, which our governments allow into our food supply as they keep snug with the corporate interests pushing GMOs.
Beyond the visualization we’re going to perform later, what can we do in the public arena to start purging GMOs?
In my opinion, one of the best things we can do is work as actively as possible to raise awareness about them. Too many people have no idea what genetically modified organisms are, and even some who actively protest them don’t perhaps understand their detrimental effects and just how important it is for us to rid them from our diets.
The fact that the same corporate interests who are in bed with the US government fight against GMO labeling in products containing them makes it much harder for us to identify and stay away from those products, but there are lists of popular products that have been tainted on the internet.
Before you decide to look up and read one of those lists, I’d recommend kissing some of your favorite foods goodbye. The sad truth is that most of the American food supply has been contaminated, and it could be a long road for anybody who wants to completely rid their body of GMOs.
I can only recommend eating as much natural and organic food as possible, and avoiding processed foods and food companies we can identify as clearly working against humanity. Beyond that, raising awareness and contributing to the efforts already being made to awaken the public is recommended.
The Non-GMO Project, who I’ve quoted repeatedly throughout this series, does much to test the products we’re given to make sure as much as possible that they’re not contaminated.
Look for their “Non-GMO Verified” seal on some of your favorite natural or organic products. Speaking from personal experience, I can say that Nature’s Path is one brand boasting the seal and they have an array of delicious organic products (cereal, granola, etc.).
Though it’s difficult to tell which products ultimately contain GMOs (even the Non-GMO Verified seal isn’t 100% accurate) the idea of ceasing buying any products we know are contaminated resonates with me. If we could completely defund Monsanto and the few others, we could stop GMO production entirely.
Beyond that, I’d recommend heading over to the Occupy Monsanto website (5) or checking if there are any protests going on in your local area. The idea of protest may not resonate with you, but in my opinion, something needs to be done beyond our spiritual effort to end this unhealthy mass experiment.
I do think our spiritual effort is equally important to solving any problems facing our world, and with that, we’re going to perform a simple exercise designed to send our positive vibration toward a GMO representation.
I’d like for us to use our spiritual ability to bless GMO crops with the intent of purifying their manipulated DNA, and the representation we’re going to utilize will be of the crops themselves.
After taking a few deep breaths and getting into a deep enough calm or meditative state, I’d like for you to imagine yourselves looking down from up in the sky at a large field of corn.
You can look directly ahead and notice a beautiful mountain, and you can remember this place as the etheric field we’ve visualized when giving our positive vibration to representations of fracking wells and chemtrail-cloaked skies.
We might visualize this field a lot over the course of our planetary healing, and for this visualization you can notice that it’s covered in what you’ve likely already guessed are genetically modified corn crops.
These crops might look innocent enough, but because of their modified DNA they pose a great threat to the health of the planet and the species on it. Interests in positions of wealth and power have pushed this genetically modified brand of corn onto the public, and the entire field’s worth will go on to be consumed by unknowing people.
Look down at this GMO corn and affirm/visualize a wave of higher-dimensional energy coming through you.
You can imagine this process occurring however you want, but personally, I envisioned the energy coming up through my spine and out of various chakras, some of which I’m unfamiliar with.
Affirm and feel this energy rushing through you and pouring out of your chakras, and notice chakras in both of your hands funneling it through. As you notice this, aim your hands toward the GMO corn field and funnel your vibration on down to bless this representation of every crop.
If you’d like, take some personal meditative time in the future to visualize widespread disclosure of the negative health effects of GMOs, as well as an outright ban on them. For now, visualize this energy blessing this representation and ask yourselves what happens when it reaches the corn field.
The end result of this blessing can be determined by you entirely, and you can use visualization to imagine myriad positive effects resulting from it. I’ll leave that visualization up to you and wrap up this series with confidence that I’ve been able to learn and present as much accurate information on GMOs as possible.
It’s easy to line up against something because we’re told its bad, but getting the facts for ourselves and presenting them for the benefit of others seems much more liberating and empowering, in my opinion.
In my view and that of plenty of other people, our planet and collective is experiencing an evolution into a greater state of physicality and spirituality.
If our bodies are unable to function correctly because foreign substances that do widespread damage are introduced into our food supply by way of genetic manipulation, we can only remain subservient to the planetary elite.
With concrete action taken in the physical and spiritual realms, we can put an end to the genetic manipulation of our food supply and one of the best ways we can do so is to buy the most natural foods we can, from companies we can trust.
There are genuine natural and organic companies out there who work against genetically modified organisms, and it’s interesting to note that GMOs have really only been around since the 90s but are already so prevalent in our food supply that, again, even the Non-GMO Project’s seal of approval can’t be 100% accurate.
As everyone awakens to the reality of GMOs and the widespread damage they do to our health, we’ll return to the way food was meant to be produced on this planet – naturally. If GMOs teach us anything, perhaps it’s that we’ve let ourselves stray too far away from our natural roots as a species.
